Its that time of year again, our Emergency Services Halloween Haunted House. This year would be the 4th year we have planned and set up this event.
I find it incredibly stressful. It shouldn’t be, But I feel like it is. Every year has been successful, every year our attendees have increased, from about 100 on the first year, 200 on year two, and 450 just last year. For a small community that’s a pretty big deal. Every year the community really starts talking about it and expectations are high the closer we get to Halloween.
Because we are an Emergency Services Building we have to set up the haunted house the morning of, parking all of our trucks outside. And be finished by 5pm for a 530 pm haunted house start. And tear down at 9pm. 3 hours after set up. And have the trucks parked back in the hall by the end of the night.
Last year, the evening before the haunted house, we still had no idea what we were going to do, we had 0 plans, but we just threw stuff together and it was still a big hit for the community.
This year, we have a bit more pre planning completed, our budget was increased by 60 percent from last year, and we utilized that immediately. I have good feelings about this year, but we still don’t have a lay out plan.
